Counting down the days...

33.5 weeks.

And I am feeling as uncomfortable as ever.

It's not that I'm terribly huge (gained about 20 lbs or less), but the weight of the baby pressing on my nerves in my pelvis is taking it's toll on me, physically and mentally. And I really dislike my doctor, he's an idiot - he is just so nonchalant about everything. It's too late to switch doctors this late in the pregnancy.

So, I've been slowly organizing and cleaning up the nursery/craft room, sorting out the baby clothes and putting things in place. I think I have all the necessities in order - bottles, nipples, soothies, breast pump, diapers, wipes, health care stuff... my sister is lending me her sterilizer and baby video monitor. Hmm, am I missing anything? I think I'll pack for the hospital today... it's not that I'm going insane, I just feel like I could go into labor any day now, all signs pointing to it. Hopefully, it'll go as well as it did like the first time. Second time is supposed to be easier, right?

Not many people know this, but it's a Chinese tradition for moms to not do anything strenuous for one month post-partum. We just have to lie back and relax and get pampered by the people around us. No cooking, no cleaning, no leaving the house. 24/7 bed rest! Sounds nice, right? Sure, except for the part where we're not allowed to bathe or wash our hairs! No contact with water for a month. Supposedly because your body is so vulnerable after going through labor that any sort of strain and water will hurt your body in the future. There was something about water and how it deteriorates your bones. You won't feel it now, but when you hit middle age, that's when the problems will arise. Supposedly. And yes, I did attempt to follow this with my first pregnancy, but all I could tolerate was 3 weeks!

And did I mention just how absolutely fatigued I am almost all the time now? I used to hate taking naps, but now I need it or else by the time Audrey gets home from school, I am left with a high energy, high demand toddler and droopy eyes! (I'm off to snooze right after this!)

This card I made actually has some sort of significance, I plan to give it to 3 special ladies. There's a 4th, but she already received the announcement and won't be here for the birth of the baby since she lives in Hong Kong now. I wanted to keep it nice and simple. No frills, just letting the sentiment shine.

  7. aaahhh. that chinese tradition now explains why when I was walking around in china town 2 weeks after my son was born all the ladies thought I was absolutely crazy! But i couldn't sit in the house another minute AND all that water actually helped me to heal faster. There is NO way i could go that long without a shower. You are a tough cookie!

Good luck with the birth. I hope it comes soon and goes by quickly! I am about 26 weeks now and the day could not come soon enough for me. Hang in there... especially with an idiot doctor. My prayers are with you!!

  10. I feel for you sister! The Dr. I wanted to use with my 2nd baby left to start his own practice when it was too late for me to change Dr's. Everything turned out fine, the Dr. that delivered my 2nd one was thankfully not an idiot. Luckily, the idiot in the practice was not on call that day.

    It's almost over!

And I changed my OB 2 weeks before my due date. And I was "high risk!" Actually, I changed my OB 4 times in those 9 months and it took that long to find THE dr. He was a Godsend!
