My little monster...

...started preschool this week (Tuesday)!

She has never been to daycare/school and doesn't really get the chance to be around other children her age much... so I was very nervous about sending her off to school. I grew up with a sister who is now notorious for crying for years at school, lol. I was bracing myself for the worst, maybe up to a month of crying? But, guess what, Audrey loves school! Or as she says: "sss-chool!" She didn't shed a single tear and was so happy to be there. It's been so good so far! We even cut out her naps and she's been fine and sleeping early like a normal toddler should. She was sleeping close to 1am every night before this week. Now, it's more like 8:30pm and up by 7:45am, just in time to wish daddy a great day at work every morning.

I have to drive her to school in the mornings. We do have a school bus option, but the route they take is about an hour+ ride for her. Just doesn't make any sense when we're only about 10 minutes away from the school. Would you have your child sit on the bus for 1+ hours when you are that close?

Anyhoots, I am so proud of my little monster. She woke yesterday morning and said: "Mommy, I wanna go to school!" When I dropped her off, there were already 2 kids in the classroom bawling their eyes out. Audrey took her backpack off herself and hung it in her own cubby and went off with the teacher. Such a big, independent girl now. They really grow up way too fast! I'm so happy that she enjoys school and is learning in a structured environment. She even came home yesterday singing a new song! So cute!

So, this is for my little one - she may be terrible little monster sometimes, but she truly is one of a kind!

Tomorrow, her class will be working on their first arts and crafts project. It's a family theme! I can't wait for her to bring home her first piece of artwork so I can laminate it and frame it and treasure it forever! It's kind of fun being a school mama, being excited about little things like that and being creative with her snacks everyday. :)

  1. So happy that you share your excitement of your little Audrey going to pre-school! She is off to a GREAT start! What an exciting time for you and all! I have one of those super clingy kid that I had to stay with him at the preschool for MONTHS (teacher wouldn't let ME leave!!!). He is now a fine 15 year old boy and he even made 2 cards for the manweek challenges last week! Enjoy this SPECIAL time with Audrey!!

I'm happy your little one loves school. My 5yo came home from Kindergarten yesterday so happy and saying Kindergarten Rocks! They read a book called Kindergarten Rocks and she was thrilled with it.
